On January 18, 2023, the first session of the 14th People's Congress of Shandong Province elected new deputies to the National People's Congress. Zheng Yueming, National Outstanding Entrepreneur, Executive Committee Member of China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Vice Chairman of Shandong Province Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Chairman of Levima Advanced Materials, was elected as a deputy to the 14th National People's Congress. This is Chairman Zheng Yueming's re-election to the 14th National People's Congress after his election in January 2018 to the 13th National People's Congress.
Deputies to the National People's Congress are elected through an indirect process by the people's congresses of provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government, serving a term of five years per session. According to the Decision of the Fifth Session of the Thirteenth National People's Congress on the Number of Deputies to the Fourteenth National People's Congress and the Election of the Deputies, the number of deputies to the Fourteenth National People's Congress shall not exceed 3,000 deputies. In accordance with the relevant legal provisions, the results of this election must be reported to the Committee for the Examination of Qualifications of Delegates of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress for confirmation.
